Solventborne polyurethane coatings – A proven solution for high quality furniture coatings

Clear furniture coatings based on aromatic polyisocyanates have a long tradition. Also for the coating layers below the topcoats polyurethanes provide a number of good properties like fast drying and good sanding behavior. Bayer MaterialScience offers a large number of coating raw materials for wood coatings that meet the most demanding requirements for this application.

UV-stable two-component polyurethane raw materials for interior joinery and furniture coatings

For fast drying, non yellowing coatings hydroxy-functional polyacrylates combined with Desmodur® N type polyisocyanates offer a high quality solution for primers as well as for topcoats. Non yellowing resins are mainly used when pigmented coatings are applied.

UV-stable two-component polyurethane raw materials for exteruir joinery coatings

If wood is used for exterior joinery, it needs to be protected from the elements to maintain its integrity and good appearance. This can best be achieved by pigmented coatings. Polyurethane based coatings have a property profile that suits this application in an ideal way.

Feature: Self healing systems for Wood Coatings
Daily tear and wear can quickly tarnish a piece of valuable furniture. Wood coatings based on our 2K waterbased dispersions are "self-healing", meaning that abrasive forces that normally cause small scratches would merely have a deforming effect on the polyurethane coating. The shape memory effect causes the polymers to flow back to their original shape, the deformation disappears and there are no scratches on the surface. This effect is greatly enhanced at temperatures of 50-60° C. More.....
