Constant innovation in coating technology is our task. See the quality of our technologies for coating materials for yourself.

In 1937, Otto Bayer became a pioneer in polyurethane chemistry – ever since then, our product portfolio of coating materials has been continuously developed and environmentally friendly coating technology has been built up.

Coating technology: wide range of products

The Bayer MaterialScience product portfolio of solventborne systems offers poly-isocyanates and polyols for almost every coating material and property profile. Prepolymers can be used as NCO components, including in formulations for solvent-free and water-free coatings.

Pergut® – chlorinated rubber – is the name of a group of chlorinated polymers in powder form. This independent adhesive system can be employed as a heavy duty rubber-to-metal adhesive, e.g. for corrosion protection, concrete and swimming pool coatings and in adhesive applications.

Environmentally friendly coating material

Bayer MaterialScience offers a range of VOC-compliant technologies for the formulation of modern, low-emission coating materials as part of its innovative coating technologies. This means we can make a valuable contribution to the protection of the environment and climate.

The quality of waterborne systems is continually increasing, thanks to innovative raw materials. In addition to the environmental aspect, the performance of the systems has also been shown to be an important growth driver in coating technology. High Solid Systems (low viscosity raw materials with high solids content) represent another option for reducing emissions. One big advantage: the coating technology process does not need to be adjusted.

The use of UV/EB-radiation curing systems in the coating industry has also seen strong growth in recent years. With good reason: especially in the industrial area, radiation-curing coating materials contribute to an increase in efficiency and a reduction in VOC emissions.

Modern powder coatings are also suitable for the formulation of environmentally friendly coating materials. They are used as a solvent-free alternative to traditional coatings in general industry as well as the furniture and automobile industries.
