UV-curing coating systems / EB-curing coating systems
UV curing coating systems and EB-curing systems have become one of the fasted growing segments in the coatings industry. This is especially true for industrial applications, where fast processing of coated parts is essential for high productivity. Radiation-curing i.e. photo-curing coatings are the solution of choice when it comes to increasing efficiency, when warehousing costs need to be controlled and when at the same time a high level of quality of the coating is essential.
These systems can also contribute to the reduction of VOC-emissions as they require only very low amounts of solvent or no solvents at all. In some cases they do not even require any at all. BayerMaterialScience is a supplier of both solventfree and waterborne raw materials for radiation curing systems.
Three-dimensional parts have always been a challenge for these systems. Dual-cure technology can offer a solution: by combining raw materials that can be cured by radiation and by a classical polyurethane crosslinking as well, even complex geometries can be coated with UV-curing / EB-curing systems.

Desmolux® - Radiation-curing acrylates (resins and binders)
Bayer MaterialScience offers radiation-curing acrylates under the trade name Desmolux®. They are 100% solid binders or diluted in monomers:
Coatings systems based on UV-curing polyurethane dispersions are experiencing a rapid growth in popularity. The combination of their property profile - which is comparable to solvent-based polyurethane coatings - and their inherent environmental friendlyness due to their waterbased technology has contributed to the strong growth of these systems in the market place. Bayer MaterialScience offers a large range of polyurethane raw materials for a broad range of applications. Discuss your requirements with our experts.
Our customers operate with their specific individual production processes under their unique conditions. Consequently, their raw materials are specified to meet the specific requirements, too. We are able to develop and test our products in our application lab which is equipped to simulate the curing conditions in our customers' production environment. Our lab equipment includes:
Regular UV-lines with 80W/sec to 240W/sec powered lamps
3D UV-equipment
IR-UV combination curing line
UV-inert line with
60W/cm to 180W/cm powered lamps
an additional 172nm Eximer lamp
EB line with 175kV acceleration tension
