Polyurethane corrosion protection – Lasting protection for valuable steel structures
High-quality polyurethane coatings for heavy corrosion protection (Class C4 to C5-M) significantly improve the longevity and safety of steel structures. For light corrosion protection please refer to the Industrial Coatings section.
For heavy corrosion protection we offer raw materials for a variety of systems:
How to reduce VOC and increase the productivity in corrosion protection systems?
New developments for such coating systems are focused on two systems. Firstly, so-called polyaspartic acid esters (polyaspartics), which allow a higher film thickness and dry quickly. This simplifies and speeds up the application of high-quality coating systems.
Secondly, waterborne two-component polyurethane raw materials, which are noted for their excellent coating properties and very low VOC content. They are becoming increasingly popular, not only as a topcoat but also as a primer applied direct to metal. In most cases, polyacrylate-based core/shell dispersions (Bayhydrol A) and low-viscosity aliphatic hydrophobic polyisocyanates (Desmodur N) are used for such corrosion protection systems.
