Polyurethane / polyacrylate / polyester dispersions for two-component systems

The trade name Bayhydrol® stands for BayerMaterialScience’s hydroxy-functional polyol dispersions. They are suitable for one and two-component waterborne polyurethane coatings. These products can be formulated in combination with Bayhydur® polyisocyanates in order to obtain coating properties comparable to those of solventborne systems. In specific aspects they are performing even better.
Particularly suitable products are the hydroxy-functional polyacrylate dispersions (Bayhydrol® A) and the hydroxy functional polyurethane dispersions (Bayhydrol® U), as well as hydroxy functional polyester dispersionen of the Bayhdrol® E range. But also high molecular dispersions of the Bayhydrol® UH- and Bayhydrol® UA-range can result in performance advantages of high quality two-component polyurethane coatings. They are commonly formulated in combination with hydroxy functional dispersions, though.

Depending on the desired property profile specific grades can be selected. Coating films based on polyacrylate dispersions (Bayhydrol® A) combine excellent chemical and weather resistance with a good film appearance, while drying conditions and hardness may be adjusted within a broad range of tolerance. For the formulation of high quality waterbased two-component polyurethane coatings our hydroxy functional polyurethane dispersions of the Bayhydrol® U range are suitable, like the new Bayhydrol® U XP 2750 (for primers and topcoats with excellent adhesion to plastic substrates) or very elastic grades like the new Bayhydrol® U XP 2757 for waterbased soft-feel coatings with an excellent resiliance as it is needed for consoles and door knobs for automotive interior applications or for high end household appliances and electronic devices.
